do you see it?

The resemblance?  I've been getting it a lot lately...it's kind of weird.  The most recent was last night at the gym.  I was gross and sweaty.

Twins?
Maybe it's the long dark hair?  I dunno.

wal-mart.

I hate this place.  I try to avoid it as much as possible, but there are certain circumstances that require that I grace this store with my presence.  For example, when I need to get groceries and say yard stuff, or groceries and hair care products.  I love you Target, but sometimes you aren't as economical as the mart.

My most recent hatred came this past Sunday.  I went in the early afternoon (mistake 1) to get a cheap entertainment center for my basement.  I had been earlier in the weekend and knew what I was looking for.  I mosey on over to the furniture section to pick up said entertainment center and realize this fake piece of wood is actually A LOT heavier than I had imagined.  Trying to wrangle this giant box into my cart was not easy.  Luckily there were plenty of other people around to help.  (mistake 2)  NO ONE HELPED ME!!!!!  People just watched.  So there I am trying to maneuver this huge box into my cart that is on wheels, mind you, and seriously, people just watched this happen.  I'm sure it was quite the show, me trying to hold the cart still with one leg, propping the box up with the other leg and then trying to shove the box into the cart with all of my muscles.

At this point there is no way for me to find a Wal-Mart worker to help me so I took one for the team (my wrist) and managed to get the sucker into my cart.  I had a few more items to grab before I could leave (mistake 3) so I take off in search of those items.  Bad, no HORRIBLE, idea.  The cart weighs approximately 500 lbs at this point, I can't see anything, but everyone in Wal-Mart thinks it to be a good idea to walk in front of me, stop, or to shoo their small children in front of my cart.  I was this close (like inches) to hitting a little kiddo, I kid you not.
This is an actual image of what my cart looked like with me behind it.

I finally round up all of my other stuff and make my way to the checkout line where a cute little old grannie checks me out.  She wasn't the speediest checker-outer, but she got the job done.  My next challenge was getting the beast out of my cart and into my car.  Once again I used the 'ol leg trick and we were off, only to realize that my muscles had used up all of their strength at Wal-Mart so the only way to get the box from the garage to the basement was to verrrry slowly twist the box back and forth until it was in a good spot to open it up to assemble it.

After a few hours of hard labor and getting pissed at my dog for putting something on backwards I finally have a little tiny entertainment center, perfect for the beast of a TV that Monica left for me in her move back to Wichita. (thanks dude!)

I'm so handy.  Please call me if I can assist you with any house projects.

Lastly, I know you've all seen this, but it always makes me giggle seeing the crazies that shop at Wal-Mart

A word to the wise....

That's my friend Colleen below.

A few years ago, we were in our friend Jess' wedding.  Colleen couldn't decide how she wanted her shorter hair done for the ceremony, but decided that an updo would work.  Little did she know, she would end up with cornrows and black bobby-pins galore all over her little blond head.  Colleen asked my friend Nicki and I (as this was happening to her hair) what we thought of it.  Unfortunately we couldn't read Co's face and said that we liked it while trying to hold back laughter (her face looked like she liked it, I swear! Doesn't the picture below look like she liked it? No? oh....).

While fighting back tears paying for this mess of hair just hours before the wedding, I was already rounding up curling irons to try and salvage any wedding pictures that we'd all take together.  Luckily, her hair turned out fine and all was well in the world.

Colleen is getting married next summer; I'm going to go ahead and say that this look isn't your best, buddy.  I'd shy away from cornrows if I were you.  I think we all learned a few valuable lessons that day:

1.  Make it blatantly obvious if you're not digging your hair before the wedding.

2.  Choose a hair style (side note: Colleen did not ask for cornrows, they just happened, like magic) that is you and not something that looks cool on that chick in the magazine, she probably has extensions or something

3.  Punch your friends in the face if they allow your hair stylist to do something like this to your wedding hair.

A white girl with cornrows=awesome.

A little better, right?

Wildcat fans, are YOU READY!?

Is it really already fall!?  It seems like just yesterday I was looking forward to summer starting...and now the weather is starting to get cooler, my yard is slowly dying, my windows are open, and most importantly--football season is just around the corner!!!  To be more specific, KSU football is just days away!

I am so looking forward to tailgating and watching Mr. Snyder back in action for another year.  Now, if only we could win a few games this year....momma wants to go to a bowl game somewhere warm this winter :).

Oh, Willie. You strange cat, you.

Ahhh...BSFS, (Bill Snyder Family Stadium) , I look forward to seeing you soon.

Crazy Train.

I really wish that I did not enjoy watching any of the Real Housewives of <insert your favorite city here>, but I do.  I love it.

Maybe because they have so much drama and I'm so boring in comparison?  New Jersey is hands down one of my favorite cities to watch, possibly because they are so ridiculous.  Check out the teaser below for a sneak peak to next weeks Reunion show, it's going to be good, folks!  I can't wait!!

Teresa Roars Tonight!

Last, but certainly not least, is a little musical treat from the craziest B of them all, Danielle, or D'nell as Jacqueline so lovingly refers to her.  Seriously you'll want to turn your speakers up and bust out your best '90s moves and glow sticks.

Thanks to my good work pal, Ashley who found these treasures; I don't know what I'd do if you weren't there to keep me updated on all that is Real Housewives.

The First.

I'm doing this. Blogging, that is. Get excited. Without fail, I seem to have the most random stuff happen to me on a daily basis so I decided it would be in your best interest for me to write about it.

First of all, meet Laila (or Laila Lou or Little Lady or really whatever comes out of your mouth--she'll come to it); she's that sweet angel baby up in the picture. She just turned one earlier this month and she even had a birthday party with all of her favorite doggie friends. She LOVED it. You might think I'm a little crazy for hosting such an event, but I have one hyper dog. Anything I can do to wear her out just a little is a good thing. Also, it really was just a BBQ and a time to drink some beers with all of my best buddies....(I didn't have treats or a candle or anything special for her, I swear)

However, someone else made her a birthday cake, complete with a candle!
And then there's me. A twenty-something (who is no where near 30) single living in the good 'ol state of Kansas. Born and raised on a farm (which most people find hard to believe) I have now settled down in a little suburb of Kansas City; I bought my first house a couple of years ago, got a dog, now I'm just waiting on that husband part...

My dad is also waiting for me to find a husband. A couple of weeks ago I sent him a list of things I needed help with around my house, for example:

Fix the mole problem in my backyard
Ants/Spiders
Fix my garage doors (they don't open all of the time)
Weeds in my yard
Landscaping
Look at the tree that the wind knocked down
Fix my ice maker

that's about it, there may have been a few more.... I should also mention that I am pretty handy around my house. For the girl who used to call maintenance in my apartment buildings a few years ago to change light bulbs; I've grown up. Anyway, I call my dad to confirm that he had received my list, and he responds with:

Dad: "I did and I read it to your Uncle Kenny"
me: "ok, and is he coming to help you or what?"
Dad: "I shouldn't tell you this...(insert my dad giggling)...we both think you need to find a husband"
me: "very true dad, but that's not happening any time soon, so you're my go to for now. When will you be arriving?"

Luckily for him, I was in a pleasant mood that morning on the way to work and the husband jab didn't bother me one bit. Even luckier for me, both of my parents came down later that week to help me knock out that list and then some. Even though my brand new shiny car and my garage were a little covered in oil, the trip was a success and I'm pretty sure that even if I did have a husband to help, he wouldn't have been able to do all of that stuff my parents did. I think I'm fine with keeping 'ol ma and pa around to help me out for awhile. They're excited, I'm sure of it.
